ADL'S  - What are they?

Activities of Daily Living

ADL is an abbreviation for Activities of Daily Living and is used throughout the senior-care profession to assess the services required to provide quality care for individual residents.

Activities of daily living are basic self-care tasks, similar to the skills that people usually learn in early childhood. They include the following:

  • Assistance with Bathing

  • Assistance with Dressing

  • Assistance with Grooming

  • Assistance with Oral Care

  • Assistance with Toileting

  • Assistance with Transferring

  • Assistance with Walking

  • Assistance with Eating

  • Medication Management

Sunrise Park is proud to maintain a professional staff of caregivers and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to provide excellent 24 hour care for all ADLs described above. Sunrise Park is not a 24 hour nursing home, and residents that exhibit a significant decline in health or develop severe medical issues beyond our scope of expertise, may be asked to move into a skill nursing facility.

Our criteria for residential living are twofold: 1) Sunrise Park management and staff must be able to maintain a safe and harmonious environment for all residents, and 2) Sunrise Park management and staff must be able to meet the individual needs of each resident.
